Frequently Asked Questions
-
We accept most insurance plans and help you submit claims for your treatment. In some cases, we can request pre-authorisations for more significant treatment options, so you will always know the cost beforehand.
-
Yes! We are pleased to offer CDCP benefits in our office. Please ensure you review your eligible coverage or contact us to discuss it before your next appointment.

The Government of Canada wants to help people have better access to dental care.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is managed by the federal government/Health Canada. Dentists are not involved in deciding who is eligible or not, or what services are or aren’t covered.
The CDCP does not provide free dental care. It is a dental benefit that may only cover some of the costs of care. Some patients will have to pay a co-payment of up to 60% depending on their income. In addition, they might have to pay the portion of the dentist’s regular fee that CDCP does not cover.
The CDCP is intended and designed for Canadians who do not have dental benefits and should not take away the benefits that people already have, including existing workplace or private dental plans.

Not all treatments and services will be covered - please visit canada.ca/dental to learn more about what the CDCP will, and will not, cover.
As a health care provider, we will make a treatment plan based on your dental needs. We treat you, not your dental plan.
-
Yes. We try our best to treat most dental emergencies on the same day and make sure you leave our office with less worry and pain than you came in with.
-
No. As with most of our treatments, we provide local anaesthetic (freezing) to take away any pain from toothaches, root canal treatments or even fillings. Many of our patients tell us that they don’t even feel when the anaesthetic is given!
-
Our office offers same-day crowns: one appointment, one fit. No need to walk away with an uncomfortable temporary crown and wait for a few weeks for your crown to come in.
-
Our team always makes sure you are comfortable and informed every step of the procedure. If requested, we also offer oral sedation. This is a sedative medication given orally an hour before the appointment and is designed to reduce anxiety, stress, and fear to make you feel more relaxed during the appointment. Even though this medication is not designed to put you to sleep, some patients do get quite drowsy and fall asleep. This type of sedation can be done along with any procedure offered in our office.

Wisdom teeth may not need to be extracted in cases where they have grown out straight and there is enough room within the jaw to support the teeth. However, when the wisdom teeth are not developing straight, are infected, decayed, or when there is insufficient space behind the last molar, we do recommend extracting them. This is usually between the ages of 17 and 25.

When you first arrive at our office, you will be greeted by our receptionist to ensure all your new patient documents are completed and your insurance information collected. One of our assistants will then bring you to your room where we will start our new patient examination, which includes high-quality photos and digital radiographs. After this, Dr. Andy or Dr. Stefanie will do a complete assessment of your gum tissues, teeth, and bone levels to create a profile of your oral health. Dr. Andy or Dr. Stefanie will then talk to you about the findings and visually show you any areas of concern with the photos on a screen in front of you. Any recommendations are then made after collaborating with you and your goals to create a long-term plan that you can be confident in. In most cases, this new patient examination visit is also booked with a new patient cleaning appointment with our hygienist to start your care with us.
